2003 Hyundai Accent wiper blades not working Sign In

I have a 2003 Hyundai Accent with a 1.5L engine that has roughly 173 000 kms on it. The wiper blades are not working. I believe the problem started in the winter when ice had built-up around the wipers. I made the mistake of not cleaning the window good enough and tried using my wipers, they got stuck yet the motor kept trying to make them go and they haven't been the same since. Now my wiper blades keep jumping/twitching (even in the off position). I try to turn them on and they move about an inch, but don't/won't actually wipe the window. I can hear the motor trying to work but for some reason it's not making my blades go. I tried taking the wiper blade motor off and tried tightening everything up. I am having slight difficulty fully getting to the linkage arm (I can only seem to get to it through a small hole in the top... I can reach in but hard to see, maybe missing something there that I am not seeing?). Checked fuse also and that seems to be fine. Heard I can try lightly tapping the motor, tried that, makes wipers jump a little but nothing more. I was also wondering before I start taking everything apart, if anyone knew if there is another relay switch that i might have in my car that I could switch out with my wiper relay switch just to see if that's maybe the problem? Any advice, suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank-you for your time.

I think you'll need to take that motor out to see if more than what comes with a new or rebuilt motor is broken. It's probably just stripped out and clue that it moves at all the motor itself is trying but comes as an assembly for the exact car.

If you do take it out try to know one is available right away so you are not without or taken apart to do this. Maybe have one ready that you know you can return if somehow not parts that come with the new motor are NOT the problem,
