Randomly one day I went to my car and the door handle was very loose. It just wiggles around and stays open when I pull it out. I finally got in there today to take it all apart after getting my new door handle I received in the mail but it appears it is not the door handle that is broken because the new one does the same thing.

After playing with it for a while, I realized that the bar didn't seem to be attached to the handle in any way so I couldn't figure out how it was supposed to work at all. I then came on here to do some investigating. The bar works fine when I pull it down manually.

After reading through some more threads I decided to check around the bottom of the door for broken parts and I found this: I'm not 100% it's related but since nothing else is broken on that door, I'm assuming it is but I have no idea how to reattach it.

Any ideas?

You need to reduce the size of your pictures by at least half before posting. They are way too big and hanging way off the side of the page.

Which part did you replace? The part in the picture is not the door handle. That is the reinforcement actuator.

Can't really see it in the picture, but the grey part that the rod connects to is supposed to have an arm on the bottom that the door handle boss pulls.

I know this is an old forum, however I have the same problem he has, What he see's is what I see. The part he found on the interior of his door is the same I found. I don't know how to connect the rod to the handle.

Thank You,
Matt

OK - rod connection you can see the one with the yellow plastic in a couple pics there. Most you have whole rod out and put that one in swinging around the rod then the other no doubt has a double U part and another part that clips to the rod. Could be plastic also and broke and may find the bits in bottom of the door. If what I think those can be in an assortment pack - ask and many will be right or left handed for left and right doors.

If all else fails see if some get your own junkyard will let you go find one from that exact car or similar that would fit.

At worst metal carb clips can be used if any place still has those or know what they areUnsure

PS: If wanted to use quickly and no part found easily inside door intact, new or used you can usually fudge up a temporary something out of wire ties or highly bendable thinner wire also named "mechanic's wire" in some places or copper lashing wire,

My fault - didn't notice the age of original thread. Next poster to this, start another with your own. Pics were too big and really don't need them if you describe a problem of the sort. This type problem should be doable but again start your own not jumping on another person's, T
