2003 Chevy Malibu fuel pump fuse question Sign In

My car just died while I was driving it. We thought at first in might be a frozen gas line, since i just put gas in it's almost empty tank. Now, we are thinking fuel pump. I was told to check the fuses first. It shows on the underside of the fuse box lid where the Micro-Relay for the fuel pump is, but not the fuse for it. Is there a fuel pump fuse? If so, does anyone know where it is? Thanks so much for any help!!

The best way is to just test for power arriving at the pump on the gray wire during the first 2 seconds of "key on".

In tank fuel pumps are cooled and lubricated by the fuel in the tank. When you run a car out of gas, it pumps a lot of air through the pump which overheats it and causes some severe wear and many times, failure when they cool off.
You will need to use a fuel pressure gauge to verify this
