2002 honda accord wont start/hesitant Sign In

so i purchased this car for my younger sister not knowing it had any problems no lights on etc... im not a complete idiot when it comes to cars an trouble shooting but i cant wrap my head around this one.
specs for said vehicle miles are 170k+ every thing is stock besides the radio an the after market alarm/auto start . the car is either hesitant to start or wont start at all it has a really rough/low idle sometimes also i checked the battery an alternator an they seem to be fine. i automatically thought it could be the after market alarm could have been installed incorrectly so she stopped using it ( still installed but not using the fob ) she said it worked fine for months but now is doing the same things as i described earlier is there something i could do to solve this?

You need to be more clear about your symptoms.

Do you have a cranking problem or a Crank, no start problem?

Two entirely different issues.

When it won't crank, test your battery and all connections to determine WHY it won't crank.

Definitely take a look at the aftermarket alarm system. 90% of the time a no crank is caused be an after market alarm system malfunction or wiring issue.

Oh boy - "Everything is stock" but the items you listed are famous for hacked wiring, screwing up in odd ways so often the cause of problems than of any good use.

Aftermarket alarms and remote starters take the prize. Radio anything can because they don't always use an adaptor plug to OE wires only but just hack those too I don't think in Honda products they are not as involved but if just any old wire gets tapped for power and grounds - who knows what troubles you get and will!
Alarm first.

Long term fix is to get all that junk taken out and all wiring put back as originally intended,

Re: 2002 honda accord wont start/hesitant Sign In

Right. Aftermarket electrical invasion of a vehicle especially the last 40 years of vehicles don't mess with it with the cheapest junk I've seen. Installation has to be on only proper wires done properly or the first places to fail. Cut wires, spliced IMO is never as good OE wiring and assorted stuff made for a vehicle. Take millions of bucks and man hours if you will to design a wiring harness of a vehicle right down so things don't rub or get wet and a long list.

Always the first things to fail. Antitheft leaves more legitimate owners walking than clever thieves for example.

There is a need for some people. Find a simple non vehicle invasive way.

It's just my opinion maybe but why on earth is it so smart to have a vehicle start and run with nobody inside it blows my mind. What could be more dangerous? Nice, hit the button by mistake if working properly and you have a running vehicle in a garage abutting living quarters that could kill you or take off on it's own with another fault with nobody in it - I don't get that feature making any sense at all.

Radios do fail but they make an adaptor for just your vehicle for many new ones so you just plug it in to existing wires the vehicle came with. Some hack installation just poke around to give another power and ground, cut wires or who knows. Many radio/sound systems in assorted vehicles are part of diagnostics and other things than entertainment so just don't mess with that stuff like it the 1960s without knowing just what is what and not invasive to the vehicle once again.

There are enough problems that happen anyway over the years to deal with than this mistaken junk being added just can't hold up close to as well,

Before you just go ripping everything out of your car, why don't you test the battery and check all the connections.

You don't need to start with the nuclear approach.

When it cranks over, but won't start, have you checked for spark at the plugs? Not common on Honda, but crank sensors can come and go with ambient temp. If it won't crank at all, refer to the other posts.
