2002 ford windstar Sign In

my 2002 ford windstar has a real bad miss i brought it to the shop he checked the van and told me that it was the coil back the van was only running on 3 cyclendrs one replaced the van was still missing but not as bad then the guy chcked the plugs wires fuel he tells me that there is a problem in number 5 cycl he said mybe a vale could someone give me a little hope Smile

You need a full diagnosis including compression test. If like some older ones, the back 3 cylinders are a real pest to get to. JUST FYI - if this really is only running on 3 of 6 cylinders it wouldn't run or stay running at all and if you could start it, it would die right out bucking away. Need a better diagnosis as to why #5 isn't behaving,

Have no idea if this is your problem but the ford 3.8.s like whats in your windstar any notorious for bad headgastets causing misfires.Good luck

those era of 3.8L are not common for head gaskets are only ones affected 1988~1996 only. 93-95 were the worst and it was actual flaw in the gasket design.

They did have a problem with the isolator bolts leaking vacuum. I realize he doesn't have any lean codes though.
