I don't know why your even the one dealing with this problem. The shop is the one that damaged it when replacing the ball joint so it's their responsibility and yes, if the plug got damaged, you probably will have to replace the sensor which is part of the hub. They should have known better. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

I have to agree with HT on this one, if the shop damaged the sensor, then they need to repair the system, whatever it takes to fix it... The only stipulation I'll add since I don't know the whole story is, if this was a "patch job" of someone else's that came apart on the tech doing the work, then that would be different since he wouldn't of caused the damage.

i agree with all of you . except that the part that is broken is a 2foot piece of wire with a plug on one end and a magnetic pickup on the other . there is nothing wrong with the brake hub ,and the part is not a piece of the hub and actually only mounts close enough to the hub to trigger the pickup . however when the original wire from the other side of the car will operate on either wheel and 2 after market sensor wires and 2 gm wires have been installed and none of the replacements work ----and dealer says i will have to replace both front brake hubs and sensors i am beginning to feel the rip. something feels rotten some where. any one have have any sugestions on how to actually fix this problem . have owned car 5 years and might want to trade it in but this looks like a $600.00 mark off on trade in value . i am 74 and used to be a pretty fair mech , and know electronics . said to wife [give me two weeks and i will build one from scratch that will work]

The sensor consists of 2 parts. The exciter ring it reads off of is part of the hub bearing and may need to be replaced. That can only be determined by the tech inspecting the vehicle. Again, this has to be the fault of the shop doing the ball joint and their responsibility to repair.
