2002 Sebring. Has fuel spark and some compression but no start Sign In

Hi. Well my 2002 sebring 2.7 v6 was running fine and then suddenly wouldn't start. Then later it started and ran fine but if i shut it off, it wouldnt start again. Now it's been weeks and wont start at all. I have spark and fuel. A friend told me it could be a camshaft sensor but i wanted to a compression test first. I have checked 4 out of 6 cylinders so far (the other two will take a lot more work to get to) and 2 of them are good at 100 psi while 2 of them are around 30-40 which i know is bad. But would that cause the car not to start at all? Also any other suggestions would be appreciated. I have tried starter spray to no avail.

Even 100 is not good but 30 to 40 is a dead hole. That motor is junk.

So it wouldn't even be a head gasket or burnt valves or anything else?

How many miles on this motor?

Has it recently been overheated or experienced any other type of trauma?

It has 140k miles on it. It has overheated a couple times in the past but that was long before, as in over a year before the car wouldnt start.

There is no question that you have serious internal damage. The question of whether it is worth while to repair is questionable. It could have jumped time and if that is the case, it would likely have bent numerous valves. The lower end has too many miles on it to rebuild the upper end as it could not take the increased compression.
