2002 S-10 Blazer 4x4 not working

 I have the push button four wheel drive and when the 4-Hi or 4-Auto button is pushed it will blink for ten seconds then go off. So far I have checked the following........
1. I removed the electric motor on the side of the t-case, had someone push the 4-Hi button and it worked
Then i put a wrench on the shifter thing that the motor turns and it was not locked up.
2. I watched the vacuum actuator when someone pushed the 4-Hi button and it worked
3. I removed the housing on the front axle and the cable was still hooked up
NOW WHAT ? ? ? ?
