2002 Liberty- loud humming noise from gas tank area

2002 Liberty- loud humming noise from gas tank area

Year of vehicle- 2002
Make of vehicle -Jeep
Model of vehicle -Liberty Limited 4x4
Engine size - 4.3 V-6
Mileage - 154,000
A moderate humming noise started today coming from the rear of vehicle while the
vehicle is running. Upon inspection it seems to be coming from the fuel tank
area, may be even inside the tank. Is the fuel pump dying? I was told that there
was a potential recall with this, not sure? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Yes it sounds like you may have a fuel pump problem.
You definitely want to get that checked out. I'm not aware of any recalls off hand but just copy down your VIN # and have all other vehicle info handy and call the service dept. They would know if there was any recalls on this model and with the VIN #,if it has already been done or not....
