2002 Chevy Tahoe On Star system. Why did I cut those wires? Sign In

I was frustrated with the nose coming from the speaker or mic located over the drivers head on a 2002 Chevy Tahoe. I think it's for the on star system. I cut the wire and the battery light came on. What do I need to do to fix the problem. I have already disconnect the on star system.

For starters, stop cutting wires.

If you cut more than one wire at once you could have already fried a module. I suggest you get it to a professional.

Repair the wires that you cut to begin with. And for the love of God, don't use wire nuts or twist the wires together...LOL Solder and heat shrink or use quality hermetically sealed splices.

And that doesn't mean twisting them together and taping them up.

That's funny I already tried twisting and tape. I cut the wires to close to the plug for a simple fix. I hope I didn't mess anything else up.

Which color wires did you cut and what did the plug you cut the wires off of go to?

Some research that should have been done before cutting the wires revealed that I cut wires for an asperator that has something to do with climate control. 4 wires red green grey black

If you chopped the aspirator/inside temp sensor wires, check the IGN 1 fuse 10 amp in the left side instrument panel fuse block.

Was the noise you were hearing coming from the thing you cut the wires off of? The aspirator motor runs anytime the ignition is on. I've seen lots of those make a sputtering noise that drives your left ear mad. LOL

The onstar system communicates to the driver through the stereo speakers. I've never heard onstar talk to someone unless it is activated.

Hopefully the fuse is blown out and damage wasn't done to the HVAC control module. If the noise is the aspirator fan, those are pretty cheap to replace. AC Delco part number 22834330.. Around $30.

thank you so much for your help I found out that it was the fuse.I would have had to spend a lot of money to figure out that simple fix. I will eventually fix the aspirator. But again thank you so much for helping me fix my truck.
