2002 Chevy Impala electrical problems

I have a 2002 Chevy Impala 3.4 L with approximately 80,000 miles on it. I came out to start it one day and it was dead so I jumped it and went on. After having to do this several times I finally went ahead and had the battery checked out and was told it had a bad cell. I replaced the battery with a new one same size battery. After doing this the car started and ran fine for a few days. I then went to start it again and it started fine, but my radio displayed a message that said locked and the a/c would not blow any cold air. I took the positive cable off of the battery and let it set for about 10 minutes, and then placed it back on to try to reset the battery and this did not work. I also started the car and took the positive cable off while it was running to check the alternator and it continued to run without a problem. Also I had this problem before i replaced the battery but i assumed it was a result of the battery cell being bad. Does anyone have any other suggestions on what I could do to solve this problem. thank you.

Let me start off by typing: NEVER remove a battery cable from the battery with the engine running. If you don't mind spending thousands on sensitive electronic control modules, then go ahead.

When you disconnect a battery cable with the engine running, this causes the alternator to send a huge electrical spike into the electrical system. The spike is large enough that it could overcome the protection in the numerous electronic control modules in your vehicle. Try something like that on a Jeep Wrangler with a SBEC and you will be replacing that module.

You could get away with it on the older vehicles that had points and carbs because they didn't have computers.

When you disconnect the battery on a radio with theft lock you need to input a code to unlock it. Your owners manual should have the instructions for unlocking the radio.

Not sure why the ac quit. You'll have to do some troubleshooting to figure that out. You'll probably need to take it to a shop that has a scan tool to see if the PCM is getting an ac request to kick the compressor on from the ac control head and then work your way from there.
