2002 Camaro batt low but car starts but getting harder to start.

Hello, I am really struggling about this and cannot find anything similar online. My 2002 Camaro Z28 voltage gauge reads around 10v. The car starts but is getting harder and harder to start. I had it tested and the batt was read good but they said the alternator was not charging the batt. Now here is the kicker. I had a new alternator installed in 2014. The last time the alternator went out I was driving it and the voltage gauge slowly went down until it finally died while driving. This time is different. Once the car starts the batt does not drain after being ran for 20 min. Radio works but lights are dim. So even the autozone guy was scratching his head. There is a leak in the powersteering fluid blowing fluid back out the cap and some gets on the alternator even though I had the power steering pump replaced the same time i replaced the alternator in 2014. I visually inspected the alternator and its still nice and shiny though from what I can see but some of the alternator is hard to see because of where it sits. So please any help would be greatly appreciated. 2002 Chevy Camaro Z28 5.7 LS1 198,000k miles K&M cold air intake flowmaster exhaust The rest is stock.

OK first autozone sells parts, unlikely you will encounter a auto tech with the needed knowledge. Buy lets think positive- have them SCAN the vehicle for codes, copy all codes and post them here. Yes SCAN even if light is out. OK the part is NEW and shinny that does not indicate good, you need to check the wiring alternator to battery and more depending on codes. Are you comfortable with wiring diagrams, DVOM (Digital Volt Ohm Meter) and simple test light?

I only read one thing - Battery reads 10V. WRONG. That is about exactly what one could read fully charge with a lame cell and still run. Unhook or not you charge the battery with a real charger. Then after hours if you can't see 12.6 it's not perfect. Can't find many that will do as engineered brand new endlessly take them back for ones that will. If a battery alone can't stay at 12.6 it still could work for a long time but it isn't right, T

Forgive me I do not know much about cars. When I mentioned 10v, that is what the gauge in the dash reads.

As I told another post car mechanics is not one of my strong suits. Autozone hooked an expensive looking multimeter to the batt. The meter read the batt was good. When he did the alt test that same meter read alternator bad. He even showed it to me both times. That's why I tried to post here because it didn't seem right.

Yeah I can read wiring diagrams. On codes I will have to report back in a couple days because I dont have the tools for it. My ses light is always on and the last time the only codes are 420 which is bad cat convert bank 2 which I know is bad just haven't had the cash to fix. Its not blocking exhaust though a couple mechanics told me the honeycomb probably fell over and is driveable for now.
