2001 Pontiac Montana 140,000 miles (Minnesota)
Starts excellent cold in any weather, Starts excellent within a couple (1-3) minutes from shutting down. Also, starts excellent after about 1 hour of sitting. Always runs and drives excellent. By starts excellent I mean within about 3-4 revolutions of engine. about 2 seconds.
Turns over, never needs jumping however battery is 6-7yrs old but, doesn't seem weak.
The problem is when it sits for more than 3-5 minutes hot. It will start as usual then immediately and I mean immediately idle down and die. If I time a pump of gas just right during start up it will just stumble from 300rpm to 700rpm or so for about 3 or 4 seconds and then run just fine. The more fuel I give it the faster it corrects itself. There are no codes showing, I replaced plugs and plug wires, (old plugs just all evenly worn no other signs, or colored etc. ) new fuel filter, air filter, drivebelt, tried fuel system cleaners. I have noticed no difference. I checked for fuel in vacuum line of fuel pressure regulator and noticed no fuel (vacuum seems good) I think fpr is good. Could a faulty or intermitant camshaft position sensor be the cause. Seems like some sort of heat soaking issue.
Over the course of 30,000 miles (1 yr) this problem started minor with slight hesitation and rough idle at startup to now needing fuel to keep running. Always occurs about the same in any weather. One odd thing is that the remote start will not start it at all it only turns the engine over for what seems to be one-two revolutions max and it it doesn't start it will try again about 30 sec later. Would very much appreciate help...........

All "crank, no start" conditions are approached in the same way. Every engine requires certain functions to be able to run. Some of these functions rely on specific components to work and some components are part of more than one function so it is important to see the whole picture to be able to conclude anything about what may have failed. Also, these functions can ONLY be tested during the failure. Any other time and they will simply test good because the problem isn't present at the moment.
If you approach this in any other way, you are merely guessing and that only serves to replace unnecessary parts and wastes money.
Every engine requires spark, fuel and compression to run. That's what we have to look for.
These are the basics that need to be tested and will give us the info required to isolate a cause.
1) Test for spark at the plug end of the wire using a spark tester. If none found, check for power supply on the + terminal of the coil with the key on.
2) Test for injector pulse using a small bulb called a noid light. If none found, check for power supply at one side of the injector with the key on.
3) Use a fuel pressure gauge to test for correct fuel pressure, also noticing if the pressure holds when key is shut off.
Once you have determined which of these functions has dropped out,
you will know which system is having the problem.

I allready read this Copy and Paste response on other questions. Though I appreciate the effort. Has anyone else actually encountered this same problem and solved it? Let me know. Not looking for Itemized lists of things to check I allready found that on every other site and I do not have all the tools. Again looking for some one who has experienced this and solved it.

And that's why there are mechanics, like hammer said only way to know for sure it to follow his steps we don't like to guess and have people throwing parts at vehicle trying to fix it. there are a lot of problems that can cause the same symptom so even if someone did have the same issue it may not be the same problem.

You may have seen that that test sequence in hundreds of places because I have helped hundreds of people diagnose their problems using it. I wrote every word of it. That is the information needed to conclude anything and if you are too lazy to do the testing or are expecting a magic answer, go get yourself a crystal ball.

Would love to play games with you internet mechanics but, Like I said looking for someone who had this issue. So, since this is my post I would ask you not to respond unless Like I said earlier you have experienced this problem.

You can try to control who responds to this post all you want but unfortunately, you do not run this site. Now it you want help, then you go perform the tests, otherwise stop wasting our time.
