2001 Ford Focus Automatic 1.6, Engine turns but wont start Sign In

My 2001 Ford Focus Automatic transmission wont start. It has been sitting outside for the last 6 weeks in the rain. I tried to start it yesterday, the engine turns perfect and the battery is good, All lights, dash and central locking work fine. I have listened and the fuel pump is working. I have tried jump starting it with jump leads attached to another car just to give the battery that little bit more power but no joy. Any ideas? Thank you in advance

first thing would be to scan for codes.
Guessing you do not have a scanner- is the CEL or security light on?
BASIC auto 101 - check for spark and fuel pressure.
Maybe try as someone attempts to start vehicle - spray some carb or brake clean into TB. Did it try to start on spray?

hi. Thank you for your reply. CEL is not on and your are correct I do not have a scanner, Spark plugs are sparking fine. To be honest i dont have a clue how to check fuel pressure. I live in the middle of no where in rural Ireland so not easy to get it to a mechanic. Was hoping it would be something i coud fix myself (Wishful thinking) I havnt tried any spray, sorry it i sound a total idiot here but where do i spray it and what is it called. I can take a computer to bits and put back together practically with my eyes closed but when it comes to cars all i know is how to drive them

 rural Ireland lucky SOB.
you need two key events to start run- spark and fuel.
you say you have 1 spark...... SO the vehicle air filter is just before the TB (throttle body) the carburetor of old. I suggested spraying a flammable liquid* into the TB to act as a fuel- a quick easy test to confirm those 2 events.
Another idea- turn key to run position where all dash lights come on not start count @ 5sec turn off count 5 and then try to start. this gives the fuel pump a "prime" so to speak.
A thought there is adequate gas (petrol) in the vehicle?

*carburetor cleaner - brake cleaner- used sparingly short sprays "starting fluid" but limit its use.

Thank you so much, I will try that in the morning as it is 9pm here now and dark. All we get here in Ireland is rain and cold, but have to admit good beer, good craic (craic = fun, not other kind haha) and of course drink, music and more drink
