2001 Dodge Dakota backfiring/timing Sign In

Odd problem for a noob. I have an 01 dakota, 6 cylinder. Engine light came on, so I put a diag computer on it. Came up with codes p0300, p0304, p0306, and p0442. Due to the first 3, I replaced all plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. It's now running worse. Spitting, sputting, and backfiring. I verified that I have the wires on in the correct sequence.

What else should I check? Again, it only got worse once I replaced everything. I don't believe I over-tightened the plugs, although, that was more guesswork. I verified that the plugs were gapped to about 45.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You have to have the firing order messed up or the cap didn't go on straight and it broke the rotor.

I verified the firing order and the wire connections. The cap is on correctly. If the rotor was broken, it shouldn't be firing at all, right?

You didn't have a problem before you replaced the parts. You obviously caused a problem in replacing the parts or there was a defect in the parts themselves so you just need to find what you did. I know you said you checked the installation but you've overlooked something.
Make sure you didn't crack any or used the right plugs and they weren't too long and hit the pistons or anything like that.

Sorry...I did have the same problem, but not as bad. I had the "chugging" but not the misfiring. So there's nothing other than these things that would cause it?
