2000 honda civic is misfiring!!!! EMERGENCY HELP PLEASE Sign In

i have 2000 honda civic si and since about a month now the car has been misfiring when i go to 3-5 rpm and once it reaches 4 rpm on some gears it just starts to slow down eventhough im pressing the accelrator. its been giviing me bad fuel economy as well.
i herd on some forums that replacing the spark plugs and wires would help... so i did that today and its still the same with no improvement
what do you think could be wrong?????
thank you so much for your help

First things first, get the codes read and post the results here. We need the exact code numbers, not a generic explanation. Most parts stores will scan them for free. Don't let them tell you what it needs. They are counter monkeys and know how to sell things, not techs who know how to diagnose and repair things. If you have access to a fuel pressure regulator or can use one through a parts store loan-a-tool program get a pressure reading and post that as well.

Also would like a bit more info on this car. What engine, automatic or stick, how many miles are on it and if you have modified it from stock at all what mods have been done.

Just because your check engine light isn't on doesn't mean there are no codes. Not all codes turn on the light, and somtimes the light bulb just burns out.

A lot of modifications means nothing. For all I know it has rims, a stereo and a lot of stickers on the windows. I'm asking you what it has in detail.

I can generally tell you it could generally need absolutely anything and everything. I don't guess randomly at what could be wrong. I test systematically to diagnose the fault and repair it with the confidence that it WILL fix the problem. I don't thr w parts at it in the hope it MIGHT fix things. You can do that, but you will end up spending way more money than it would cost to fix it the right way in the first place.

Autozone, some OReilly's and a few other parts stores will scan you codes for free. Realize that if they cannot communicate with the ECM that the communication error needs to be solved first and then we can find out what is happening on the driveability end of it. Some of the people there will suggest a bunch of crap that might be the issue. They are doing that to sell you parts. If they knew that much about cars they wouldn't be $10 an hour counter monkeys, they'd be $30 an hour techs.
