2000 ford ranger died and wont start now please help Sign In

i have a 2000 ford ranger v6 3.0 my truck drove fine no problems sence i got it but two weeks ago while i was driveing the truck died, my gas gauge is broke so i thought i was out of gas but when i put gas in it it still wouldnt start. i got another truck and tried to tow it while going down the road getting pulled by a tow cable the back tires lock up and now when i try to start it it only clicks maybe once out of 6 trys. after a hour or so the tires unlocked and i cld move it but it still wont turn over or start at all. i replaced the battery, checked connections to battery and starter. checked all pullys for jam, checked belt, tried to jump it wit another car. this is my only form of transportation any advice would help greatly.
im also going to get the starter checked just trying to see if im going in the right direction

Before you go through the work of pulling the starter, grab a 12v test light and see if you have power at the small stud on the starter when the key is held in the start position.

Not sure what you mean by your wheels locking up. Is this a stick or automatic? Were you in neutral while you were being towed? Are you saying you tried to roll start it by dropping the clutch in gear while the truck was moving and it locked the wheels up? If so, you need to put a breaker bar on the motor and see if its locked up.

You might also want to put a socket on the crankshaft bolt and see if the motor will turn by hand. This thing may be seized up.
