I have a 2000 ford focus. It seems to have ran out of gas and it was low on gas so I put 2 gallons in it and it still won't crank. The fuel pump is priming and the engine turns over. I got it to run for a few minutes but I had to rev it up to 4000rpms to keep it running but it soon died and I couldn't get it started again. I pulled all four spark plugs and every one of them was covered with oil. The spark plugs go in the center of the valve cover and when I pulled the wires and looked at the plugs, each of them had oil around them. I removed the plugs and valve cover and checked the gasket and our seems to be in ok condition but it could be replaced. I also cleaned the spark plugs and took some and paper and cleaned the electrode making sure not to touch the platinum tip. I put everything back together and checked the plug wires for damage and they look ok too. I just had a brand new fuel pump from the ford dealership put in about 3 months ago. I put a new fuel fitter on the car when i bought the car. It had 96000 miles on it then and now it's got 150000 miles on it and I haven't put a new one on it since then. Same goes for the spark plugs. I haven't checked to see if I have spark at the plugs yet and I don't have a fuel pressure gauge to check if I have good fuel pressure. The car ran fine up until it ran our of gas. Do you have any ideas what my problem might be or what I need to check next. I'm working out of my garage and have very limited tools. Please help. Thank you

can not work without tools...
we will deal with the oil leaks after we solve no start...

2gal of fuel ? really lets try another 2 gal.
check for codes, check fuel pressure, those are BASIC tests.

4000rpm- bordering abuse there...

Agree with adding more fuel. I could use more than you added. No tools isn't helping of course but a couple tricks would be prime throttle body with starting fluid and if that lets it start or even react it probably is a fuel DELIVERY issue up front.

Some fuel pumps will self destruct if run dry or at least not good for any of them.

Other problems later when you can at least isolate at least LACK of spark or fuel as the immediate reason it doesn't run,

In tank fuel pumps are cooled and lubricated by the fuel in the tank. When you run a car out of gas or very low, it pumps a lot of air through the pump which overheats it and causes some severe wear and many times, failure when they cool off.
You will need to use a fuel pressure gauge to verify this
