2000 blazer trouble...PLEASE HELP ASAP! Sign In

I have a 2000 chevy blazer lt 4wd, 6 cyl engine, automatic 4-door...just so you get the idea.
anyways, a week or so ago, my car wouldnt start, but tried to.
got it towed home by third day(and got fired from job over it)

all ideas pointed towards the fuel pump. my stepdad is a private car dealer and very good, experienced mechanic. after changing filter and pump with an aftermarket pump we bought,

the car started right up...and has not started up again since, unless fuel was poured in a bit from the front, in which case it will not stay on past a couple seconds(again, thats IF it starts)

using a fuel pressure gauge under the hood, with the old bad pump it would NEVER get ANY pressure at all...with new pump, it gets pressure, but will completley cut off 2 seconds after the pump begins to kick in(whether the ignition is turned to on position OR the engine is attempted to start)
also keep in mind, the code reader gives NO CODES whatsoever.
theory is of something electrical possibly that cuts off the fuel. but my stepdad is no electrician, and we do not know for sure yet what the cause is, likely something very small but obviously complicated enough, at least at the moment.
i do know that chevys are well-known for this kind of problem, not that it gives me any comfort to know that, mind you.

given that i got fired for needing just one day off of work for this thing, money is very tight and almost all gone by now just trying to fix the blasted thing.
I either need to sell it(normally could get between 3 and 4 grand but would sell for around 2500 obo if somebody was walling to have it towed and fix themselves) or
the other option is to figure out what needs to be fixed and fix it, but we have no clear idea at this time.
does anybody know what it could be, or how much it may cost, etc...?
the sooner i get help or advice, the better, please

With you saying that the fuel pressure gauge shows that the pump is building pressure for those 2 seconds; that tells us that the fuel pump, wiring to pump, fuel pump relay and computer are electrically capable of turning on for the prime cycle; that’s normal.
Now if all else were working normally; as you continue to crank the engine and if the computer can detect an RPM signal (spark) from the ignition system; it will then turn the pump back on.
Is there a consistent spark??

I'm not sure what you mean by the system being kaput. I was referring to the factory system. If the factory system is inpo then the vehicle isn't going to run. It will start for 2 seconds & die. The light I am referring to is in the dash.........

yes, dash light only stays on when door is open.
because this car was stolen years ago from previous owner, they had to break into the retrieved vehicle and thus the alarm was put on backburner....the key remote doesnt match up, etc...alarm can be armed with manual door locking technique, and can be disarmed with ignition turned on. but other than that, the system has been kinda dormant...driven it for a year before this so if its alarm cutting off fuel, i have no idea what to do about it

Well just so I'm clear.....

You had zero fuel pressure. Installed a new pump. Now you have 55-60 psi fuel pressure and the vehicle will start & run for 2 seconds & then die, is this correct?

If you have a spare key, try that, if not you can try a relearn procedure...

Hook up a battery charger, turn the key to the on position (do not try to start) and leave it there for at least 10 minutes at the end of 10 minutes, turn the key directly to the start position and see if the engine will start & run if not turn the key all the way off & repeat. This may take up to 3 times to work.......
