2000 Toyota Celica GT Problem Sign In

So i have a manual 2000 toyota celica gt and there are a few things wrong and i'm not sure how to approach it. My car shows p0171 for engine too lean and p0420 for bad cat. I am about to replace the maf to see if that helps but i'm not sure if it will. The weird thing though is that it just recently started doing like an engine hiccup. When i'm in 5th gear just driving it will randomly feel as though i let off the gas suddenly and reapllied it. you can feel the gear kinda stop pushing the car and the car does like a little bump. the rpms also do a very small bounce. it does is mainly in 4th and 5th gear but not really when i'm accelerating. could this be caused by the cat being bad? or is it something else?

I doubt the 'cat' is causing the hiccup feel but more likely the result of it not burning complete enough so stressing the thing. When they plug up you would usually both get your code and even loss of power at first.

For that slight hiccup like that, that can snap out of it I'd look at all things to do with intake air including now ~13 years good old vacuum leaks,

You probably want to look for a vacuum leak for the lean code.
