Search Auto Parts Search 2000 Subaru giving me a hard time Sign up here!   Email This Post Auto Repair Home>> Automotive Repair>> Car Troubleshooting subaruman2009 New User Sep 24, 2009, 10:36 AM Post #1 of 4 (1885 views) 2000 Subaru giving me a hard time Sign In I own a 2000 automatic subaru legacy L with 133k. in the morning when i first start my car and put it in reverse it almost stalls and the engine sound is going up and down (not really loadly, quietly going up and down) and the car is jumpy as the engine revs. Then when I put the car in drive it happens in the beginning but goes away as I accelerate. after about 10 minutes when i have been going at cruising speed there are no issues with stopping at lights, etc. It has happened the last two days...any ideas? Remove the intake snorkel, have someone hold the throttle wide open for you and scrub the back side of the throttle plate and surrounding bore with an old tooth brush and some carb cleaner. Be sure to spray some into the small holes next to the throttle plate. That should help stabilize the idle. Is it expensive? I do not want to spend any money on this car. Thx. Misfires can be caused by any number of things so it needs to be diagnosed properly. If the plugs and wires are due for replacement, that's a good place to start.
