That's the key. Yes, the Cougars and T-Birds of that vintage are 'okay'. I don't mean that in a negative, or positive, way. Have the car thoroughly inspected, by a professional, prior to purchase. Regardless of your state's laws, run it through an emissions station to make certain that it will pass.
