2000 Focus Fuel Test Port Missing?	Sign In

I've got a 2000 Focus Ztec 16v engine I'm working on. There doesn't seem to be any test port at all on the fuel rail. I know what they look like a shrader valve with the valve stem type cap on it. Where the heck is it? I see the psi sensor on the R side, and the drivers side is capped with a plate and a 1/8" sealed nipple sticking out in the middle.

She drove the car to past E on a 100 degree day, and the car died. She got 5 gallons of gas back in it, and now it chugged home, no power, and to won't go above about 1600 rpm in gear. I imagine she sucked up some junk from the bottom of the tank or just burned her pump up. I'd still like to test it. Thanks.

Alldata says there is a service port in the fuel rail but I don't have anything specific.

In tank fuel pumps are cooled and lubricated by the fuel in the tank. When you run a car out of gas, it pumps a lot of air through the pump which overheats it and causes some severe wear and many times, failure when they cool off.
You will need to use a fuel pressure gauge to verify this

there is no shrader valve on the focus fuel rail. you have use a T connector. If fuel pressure is low you will still have to get it on a scanner and see what PID's say.. The voltaged is varried for the pump depending on what it reads from the Fuel pressure regulator.. you will have to make sure the system as a whole is working properly.
