My 2000 Chevy Lumina (car) has been randomly idling at around 2000 rpm, most frequently when I first start it. I replaced the air intake control valve. I cleaned the throttle body with carb cleaner. It's still doing it. At times, my idle rpm goes back down just below 1000, but about half the time it's up around 2000. Any ideas what to check next? Thanks in advance.

Any trouble codes stored? If so, what are the numbers? Do you have a scan tool? If so, compare the IAT to the ECT when the engine is cold with the key on engine off. They should be close to each other. You may need to connect a volt meter to monitor the ECT voltage and see what it does when the problem occurs. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
