I have a 2000 Toyota Camry V6 Automatic. It will start up fine, run fine, but only up until I come to a complete stop at the stop sign down the road. Once I start to accelerate again, it will jerk every second or so constantly. After it starts doing this, I go to slow down and it suddenly stalls. It will then take about a good 3 minutes before I can get it back started again. When the jerking starts, the RPM needle will bounce around from 0 to 2 or 1 to 2. No check engine light will come on when this happens, nor after I get it started again. I've already tried replacing the Fuel Filter, the MAF sensor is clean and I'm running out of ideas and money to get this fixed. Please help!

When it stalls and doesn't want to restart is when you should check for:

Spark using a spark tester
Injector activity using a NOID light
Fuel pressure using a fuel pressure test gauge

One of more of those things is going to be missing. Knowing what is missing can give you direction for where to look for the problem.

Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

If i took this to a shop, could they test for those things? If so, how much would it normally cost to test for those things if any?

If you take it to a shop they'll diagnose the whole problem. The steps DS mentioned above are just steps to know what is dropping out when it won't restart. Once they figure out what is dropping out further diagnosing will need to be done. The steps above are just to figure out if it's a fuel problem or an electrical problem. So, even if you just pay to have those tests done you'll have continue diagnosing.

They aren't hard tests to do. Most auto parts stores have a tool loaner program. You can only do the tests when it won't restart. Once it restarts you no longer have a problem. It's gonna have to be in that 3 minute timeframe. When it does stall hookup the fuel pressure tester and check for fuel pressure. If it's lower than it should be you know you have something wrong with the fuel system. If it tests okay then move on to the spark tester in order to test for spark. Then go to the NOID light to check for injector pulse. (You can test in any order) You may have to start the car in between tests in order to get it to stall again. Once you find out what's dropping out come back and post your results. The mechanics on here will be able to help you from there.

Doing these tests is going to be the only way to figure out the problem unless you plan on throwing parts at it which would get very expensive.

For costs to check those things will vary greatly shop to shop. Some may charge and apply that towards cost of doing the fix or a flat rate for a certain time allowance to diagnose things out and you can decide on the fix or not. Check locally on that.

Some tools and equipment is rentable for full deposit for safe return for free,

As already mentioned here, if the shop cannot duplicate the problem while they have all their test tools hooked up to it, then they will not be able to determine anything at all. It has to be tested during the failure.

Thanks for all the replies. I will have to take it in to get tested over the weekend. I have no doubt that they can get it to stall on them because it happens every time it's driven at this point. I'll post a solution if one is found.
