When i was driving home, I noticed that my car wasn't accelerating properly and that the revs were not normal. on the final hill to my house my car just gave out and would not accelerate anymore so i pulled over. I noticed that it smelled like i was driving with my e-brake on. I believe that it has something to do with he clutch, either it is blown out or it will not engage gears. I have not tried anything yet to fix it. My car specs are as follows: Year:2006 Make: Mitsubishi Model: Lancer OZ Rally Edition Engine size: 2.2 (I believe) Kilometers: 46000 Also there has been one previous owner before me. I also do not drive my car very hard but i have ground my gears by mistake a couple of times before.

Was the engine revving up but the car not moving? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Okay thanks thats what i thought. I took it into the dealership this morning, but i think it will take them a while to get back to me of what the problem is. So will i just need to get the clutch replaced?

Clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing and probably a flywheel too if you let it go that far.

There are a few things that factor in, shop rate, quality of the parts used but you should be in the 7 to 8 hundred range........

So it turns out that the whole clutch needs to be replaced.

Well I guess that wasn't too much of a surprise for you.... I'm just curious what the estimate was if you don't mind posting that (ballpark is more than fine), I just noticed your location, so that factors in as well.
