199 oldsmobile alero can some help please

This is wired I'm useualy pretty good with cars but this one is kind of got me puzzled. I have a 1999 Oldsmobile Alero yacht had to many probe with it. One thing it does do is while driving around town for a while it will get a little hot meaning the temp gauge will go above the middle it wount overheat. After a little bit the fans come on and the temp goes back to normal. Now of I step on the g as or hit the highway droveong at highway speeds the temp goes back to normal. Is this a radiator problem? Any help apreciated

Fans on this are not set to come on until 220 degrees. This would be normal operation.

As long as the fans come on, the temperature goes down, and then the fans go back off, your engine is not overheating.
We get a lot of customers that think their vehicle is running hotter than usual because they are driving around with the AC turned off. With the AC turned on, the coolant temperature stays consistent because the fans are running all the time. If you don't have the AC running and your sitting in traffic, the coolant temperature will climb higher until the engine computer turns the fans on, in this case around 220 F as Nick stated.
If the fans were running all the time with the AC off and the air blowing from them was cool, then you have problems.

Ha! figured it out thanx for all you guys help on this issue I've never used ac in my cars before and I'm use to drive smaller cars and used to seeing the temp gauge stay in the middle at all times I always thought if it goes above the middle there's an issue but I'm glad to hear that it's normal for this car

Soo if I understand corectly it's normal on this car for the temp gauge to go up a little and come back down when the fans kick in?

Yes, it's entirely normal for the temp to run higher when in slow traffic with the AC off. As long as the fan cycles back off you are fine.
