1999 Grand Prix Cigarette Lighter Power Sign In

My car is a little bit Ghetto. The downpipe isn't connected properly and runs loud. And it squeaks as I make right turns (I think it's because of the power steering reservoir.) The CD player is broken and I hate the radio. So I have a 5.1 computer stereo system that I like running off of a power inverter to play my music. A cheap solution that sounds awesome. Problem is both of my Power inverters either won't turn on, or constantly power down because of "Low Battery" one of them has a display and shows that it dips below 10.5 volts and that's why it turns off. But my battery isn't bad. When I hook the inverters directly to my battery they work great. The one with a display shows an unwavering 12.1 (ish) volts. My car actually has 3 power outlets in it, but only the one next to the ash tray has ever worked. I don't know how to get the Axillary one made for just power to work and I haven't found a fuse that seems to be burnt out so I've kind of given up there.

My main question is, what do I need to be looking for to attempt to find the source of my missing power so that I can return to using my stereo in my car. It used to work fine, and it no longer does. Any clues would be helpful.

I would check to see if you have power at the outlets if not take them out and check the connector. May just need new outlets, if all seems ok I would probably take it to a place that does installs. The way it sounds it's pretty boo boo rigged so if you have any extra "power wires" you installed or were there when you got the car they could be messing with your power distribution. Can always check wire diagrams and fuses too.

Maybe earphones and an I Pod are in order so you wont have to listen to that wide open exhaust or hear when that wheels coming off. They'll come in handy when ya waitin for the bus too!
