1999 Ford Escort

I have an Escort, and a Few Weeks Ago, We started it up and went to back out of a Parking Spot..And she was Shaking..And Sputtering Really bad..and a Faint "Ticking" noise could be heard from under the hood like it was missing. Then it Died...We started it back up...Let it Idle for a few...and She Ran Great..

Keep in mind i dunno if this problem is related to that one

But Last night... We were Getting Ready to Drive off, and Put it in Drive..and she Immediately Started Sputtering and Running Really Rough...Then a Loud Tiking (Not Ear Piercing but louder than the previous one) Could be heard..like she was really Missing...IT would Coast ok..But as soon as you apply Gas...The Ticking would happen with Barely Any Horsepower...If you feel behind the Exhaust..It is "Puffing"..puff..puff..puff..With the Rough Idle...And..It's not stopping this time...

Now I know there are a lot of possible Causes Such as:

Broken Distributor Cap (I know they are more likely to break in Cold weather..and it was really cold the First time...And Freezing this time)
Bad Plugs
Jumped Timing
and the Dreaded Bent Valve..

I am not afraid of Pulling it Apart..And Fixing the problem...but I would like to know how to eliminate a few of the possibilites so I know where to start..my wife and I have 2 jobs..and 1 car..So Time is of the essence..Any other information needed I will be glad to provide...

Please Help..Thank you

Post the exact code you pulled and see if you can tell where the ticking noise is coming from.

If you got a P0303 then take the plug out & put it in #1 and the wire on #2 and put those back in #3, start her up and see if you get a P0301 or P0302
