1999 Chrysler 300m
3.5L V6 engine
nearing 80,000 miles.

I have a Chrysler 300m where the radiator fan simply won't run. This problem first appeared while i was on a road trip, and the mechanic couldn't get anything to work. He replaced the fan, sensor, and thermostat. Even then, he couldn't get the fan to turn. Finally, he hotwired the fan to the battery and i have to keep inserting a fuse in one of the wires under the hood to get it to turn. It takes about 20 minutes of driving (Especially local) to get the temperature gauge to go into the red, if you don't use the fuse.. In addition, the A/C will blow only outside air, without cooling it down.

Now, taking matters into my own hand, after the huge bill and terrible mechanic experience, i replaced all 3 fuses (1 under the dashboard, labeled as rad fan & a/c clutch, and 2 under the hood, a 30 amp(clearly blown) Rad fan hi, and a 40 amp (most likely blown as well) rad fan lo/hi. At this point, the driver side fan will come on/off and the a/c will blow out nice cold air. But the passenger side fan won't come on, and the car still overheats.

What could be the problem? Autozone advised that it's either the fan relays (found these under the hood) or the coolant temp switch.

What should I do?

I had the same problem with my 2006 Dodge Stratus, it turned out to be the relay under the hood. A friend of mine also had the same problem and it turned out to be the wiring connections from the fan.

It sounds like you already replaced the relay, so I would check the connections from the connection at the fan and follow the wires for any cuts tears and at the connection point on the other end. Even replacing the fan won't work with bad connections.

I'm not a mechanic...just passing along my experience with the same issue.
