Not all new ones are good and watch the voltage while cranking and even for the short time it runs. There are bad new batteries and all replacements should be charged before installation with a memory saver, T steve01832 Veteran Nov 14, 2006, 4:00 AM Post #3 of 3 (3397 views) Re: 1998 jeep grand cherokee won't stay running Sign In A lot of times on Chrysler Jeep, when you disconnect the battery the computer loses its memory and has to relearn idle speed motor settings. This should clear up on its own in a few days. It is frustrating, but the computer needs a little time to relearn idle settings.
