Look for the starter relay in the fuse/relay box under the hood. Have someone crank the engine while you feel/hear for the relay clicking. Does it click?

Just asking - does clock reset and or radio presets get lost when trying?

Thats a good thing because the control side of the circuit is working. There should be another relay in the fuse box that looks like the starter relay. Swap the relays and see if the starter cranks. Does it crank with the relays swapped?

You need to do a voltage drop test on the control circuit and the battery cables. Just prior to that physically inspect the connections for corrosion. Both sides must be clean and tight. Apply dielectric grease to all connections on reassembly. Your side post terminals need to be worked out of their rubber housings to be properly cleaned.

Do you have a meter or 12 volt test lamp?

Did you get this resolved by any chance? Have the same problem with my 3.1 Monte. Replaced fuel pump, starter and battery. Engine has laboring to crank over. At a loss at this point. Thx

Did you read the FORUM RULES by chance. This thread is a year old.
