My daughters accord idles really rough after driving it for about 10 minutes, but not as you are driving it, only when you stop. Then, when she stops, the car usually shuts off. It normally starts fine, even after shutting off. We have checked the codes and it comes up with something for the transmission (shift control valve I think). We have checked the transmission and it is fine...no problems shifting, etc. If she turns the A/C on, it makes the problem worse....if the a/c is not on, or we shut it off when the car idles high, it usually helps, but doesn't always keep it from shutting off. The car runs smooth, drives really well, no other weird noises, knocking or smells. We have checked for vacuum leaks, cleaned the throttle body, and checked the ignition switch. Any ideas?

First eliminate all vacuum or air leaks in the system. You may have a bad IAC ( idle air control) but try cleaning the throttle body first. Remove the intake snorkel, have someone hold the throttle wide open for you and scrub the back side of the throttle plate and surrounding bore with an old tooth brush and some carb cleaner. Be sure to spray some into the small holes next to the throttle plate. That should help stabilize the idle. If it still has a problem, replace the IAC. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

We have already done both of those things. Still only idles rough and shuts off after driving it for 10 minutes or so, then stopping at traffic lights, stop signs, etc. Any other time it runs fine. Also starts right back up, but as soon as you put it in drive it goes rough and shuts off...I put it in neutral, then go fast as I pop it into drive.
