hi everyone im looking at a 97 avenger nice shape but has over 130,000 miles they claim highway miles, 2 grand is asking price anyone out there have an opinion on high mile chrysler products car is a 6cyl and like i said very nice looking, tires look great just a little leary about that many miles, have not driven or even talked with the seller how concerned should i be thanks for any replies

If this car has received all of its servicing at the proper intervals and has not been neglected or abused when issues have a risen; then it could be ready to run for another 130.000 miles.
But that’s a big if???
Even IF every time this car has asked for some form of servicing or repair; it received it, but the driver had aspirations of being and Indy race car driver; the car could be just plain worn out.
If you’re really interested in this car get permission from the owner to take it into a repair facility and have a full inspection done on the car.
I don’t mean just the engine but everything from brakes, suspension, steering, transmission to the A/C system; anything that can be checked, tested, wiggled and jiggled; have it inspected.
Yes it’ll cost you some labour to have a shop or technician do this for you but they’ll be a better judge of what the condition is of the car; rather then someone here saying “go for it because my cousin Vinny had one and it was great”. LOL
Now I’m going to talk to you as a garage owner, who is in the business of repairing vehicles for a living. (Rubbings hands together looking for our next victim, being the crooks that we are LOL). “There isn’t a vehicle built that at 130.000 miles doesn’t need some form of repairs or maintenance.” The severity of these repairs is what you need to know before you buy this thing. Also keeping in mind that a technician cannot see inside an engine, transmission or other items; so even with a clean bill of health you could still be into some unforeseen repairs; brand new cars break down.

Good one Dan as always. I'll only add that cared for cars have owners that can usually prove it and I've owned cars with way more miles and did fine. Totally recommend a check of the car by a pro and find out if something is found and adjust your offer or move on.
Like Dan said new is NOT a garrantee of a good car. Every so often they tow away brand new cars that won't run to even get off an assembly line! T
