1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo headlights flickering

I drive a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. Last weekend, I was on a cross-country road trip and the headlights started flickering, and the check engine light came on at about the same time. They'd flicker for about two minutes at a time before returning to full strength for about ten or twenty minutes, and then the cycle would repeat itself.
Two notes:
1.) I've been having some odd electrical issues for the last year or so -- daytime running light control module failed out of the blue, some oddness with the instrument panel, etc. I have a feeling this could be related.
2.) When this was happening, the car was exposed to a LOT more moisture than it's used to -- I live in a rather arid part of the country, and the areas I was driving through and staying in were fairly humid and somewhat rainy.
The check engine light has shut off since I've gotten back, but I haven't had a chance to check whether the headlights are still flickering.

You probably should start out be getting the codes read that were set when the check engine light came on and see where they take you.
