1997 GMC Sierra 1500- Dash Insturment Cluster Sign In
I have a 1997 GMC Sierra 1500 pick-up and noticed that the speedometer, tachometer and gear selector is not working. Warning light comes on saying dash gauges. Asked knowledgable mechanics about this and never heard of this has anyone in countered this problem on similar vehicle and what was the cause?

It is not uncommon at all for the electronic dash cluster to fail on GM products. You will need a bidirectional scan tool to access and test the cluster. They sell remanufactured units for replacement .

Thankyou, for the information also should of mentioned but forgot but from what you told me so far would make sense that this would affect the transmission performance as well it shifts reverse to drive just not like it supposed to I don't dare drive it on road just in driveway since this started.

No, there should be no effect on the transmission, just the indicator lights.
