my 1996 ford windstar 3.8l v6 with 170000 miles is leaking coolant from behind the engine near the firewall on the passenger side. also leaking inside the cab on the passenger side cause the floor board is wet. think it might have something to do with the heater core cause the heater hasnt been working either.

This is most definately a heater core since you have a wet floor. It can be a bit of a pain to get at the hoses, but do yourself a favor and replace them too when you do it. The cost is low and when you take it apart they can leak when you go back together. Be sure to bleed the system when you get everything back together to remove any air pockets from the system that would keep you from getting heat.
