Check engine light came on and it is losing power, idling rough, and jerking. It doesn't seem to be accelerating like it should. The diagnostics test said it was multiple misfires so it could possibly be spark plugs and wires, or coil? Today it was running a little better. Check engine light went off. What does this mean? I am a woman who knows nothing about cars! The fuel regulator has been replaced as it was leaking fuel. That has been fixed. Why was my check engine light on, and then went off? Could it be something more serious? I have no idea the last time it was done. If the check engine light has gone off is it most likely just the plugs and wires? I'm getting that done in the next couple of days. Who knows, it may have been a batch of bad gas that caused it. With the car being 17 years old it's possible that it hasn't had a tune-up for awhile. Get that tune-up first and go from there.
