Hello, my car has recently been having problems with the ignition. I am not sure what could have caused the problems, but it appears that someting is broken.
My car has always had a problem where the wheel becomes "stuck" and I am unable to turn the key without serious fiddling about. I am not sure what this is about. A couple of weeks ago I was parked, and I turned off the car for a bit. When I went to turn it on, the ignition area where I insert the key "fell out".
The black outer piece fell out, alongside a small almost "T" shaped piece of metal which I have been told is the steering lock, and another curved piece of metal that appear to fit around the area where the key is inserted (looks like part of a circle with a small rectangular rod extending from it and a slit along one of the curved sides). The second piece appears to have broken off from the inside of the ignition, as it is irregular looking and has a chip. The first time I had this problem I managed to get it to work by putting it back in where it seemed to fit. This morning, the same thing happened again but this time something odd is happening. I attempted to start the car without the outer housing but the engine would not turn over and instead just made a single "putt putt" noise, and a sort of buzzing noise. The battery starts, though, and I can turn on the heat and interior lights. I am wondering how I could possibly jerry rig my car to fix this problem, as I can not afford to fix it professionally. Also, what is the part that has broken off, how expensive would this be to fix? Thank you very much, and I need help as soon as possible!

Then turn the ignition key to the run position and at the same time press the lock pin in that is on the bottom of the lock on the bottom of the column right under the position of the key lock.
Now while doing all of this pull the lock cylinder out. You may have to move the lock back and forth to get the pin to depress. Use a small 1/8 inch punch or screwdriver to press it in.
The key cylinder with a new key runs $20-$30 you simply reinsert the new cylinder.

Sounds like you also have a dead battery according to the noises you describe.
