I was driving down the freeway going a tad over the speed limit for about 30 mins. Came to the exit uphill and the car stalled out at the light. I tried to turn it back on and it would start but sputter then die. I was stuck there for about 20 minutes. I was running low on gas, but I'm not 100% convinced that gas was the cause of the stalling out. I was finally able to start it up and reverse to the side of the road as a local was kind enough to fetch me some gas. When I came came home, everything was fine until I arrived home. I parked it and it stalled seconds before I turned the car to shut it off. Any ideas?

In tank fuel pumps are cooled and lubricated by the fuel in the tank. When you run a car out of gas or very low, it pumps a lot of air through the pump which overheats it and causes some severe wear and many times, failure when they cool off. You will need to use a fuel pressure gauge to verify this ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
