About 3 months ago my speedometer went in my car, Which is a 1995 Honda Accord Ex and well i it had 199,875 miles on it when it went out so its well over 200,000 miles now. For about 2 weeks i have heard a rattling noise coming from my car when it idles, and during acceleration i don't hear it to much when im driving it. It has always shifted kind of hard since the day i got it, had it checked and everything was fine. 2 days ago i was backing out of a parking space and it started to reverse and it paused, as if it needed a minute to catch up. Then continued on into reverse. Yesterday it was hesitating to shift gears, it was almost like i was revving the engine in neutral, took like 4 seconds and it shifted over. Then the temperature spiked and i was about 4 houses down from mine and the check engine light came on and i noticed that the light around D4 was blinking. I know there is a code that you are supposed to check but i don't know how to go about doing so. So basically my car is in major need of help and i know nothing about cars to know where to being. I need a car and i don't know what to do. I haven't driven it since.

It may be too late. If your TEMP SPIKED , I assume you have a gage .Then theres a good chance of head and gasket failure . Check all fluids esp the trans . Top off as needed . If it runs ok then you need to get it to a shop for a check over .You must have one or more leaks on one oer more systems for all this to happen at once.
