Hello Everyone

I have a 1995 Ford Contour SE V6 5spd. Here is my problem

Lately I have not been able to start the car. It usually takes more than one turn before the car will turn over. I don't hear any clicks or anything, but after so many turns, it will finally start. Now it does not start at all. I think it may be the starter that has failed. I would like to remove it and take it in to be tested. I have worked on starters on older model cars, but nothing this new. I believe it is still held by 3 bolts, but I was wondering if anyone has removed a starter on this model car, or has information on it; would I have a hard time doing it? Basically could I do this in under half a day, or should I take it in to a mechanic? I really would like to do this myself if I could so any input or information that could help is greatly appreciated

You asking us whether you’re capable of removing the started is something that you’ll have to answer for yourself.
My repair manual doesn’t give a description as to how to remove the starter and that usually means that it’s fairly strait forward thing to do.
The flat rate labour guide pays 2.4 hours for an automatic transmission car and 1.5 for a standard transmission, at a skill level rating of C, which would be at a second or third year apprentice mechanic’s level here at home.
So I guess have a look, if it doesn’t scare you off “geter don” (Larry the cable guy) LOL

Thanks Dan! You have provided more that what I was expecting

. I will go ahead and give this a try since I have done a few before. It may be a few days before I can post again since I won't be starting this right away, but I will be sure to post how I did. Thanks again!
