1994 Explorer Anti Theft going crazy

I just purchased a 1994 Ford Explorer 4x4 with 305,000 miles on it. I drove it home just fine, no problem, parked it then came back out an hour later to drive it to work. I put the key in the door and noticed it was unlocked and when I opened the door the anti theft went off (obviously). Here's the problem....the key won't turn in the door. And everytime I open the door the alarm goes off. With Explorers you can't start the car when the alarm is going off, so turning the car on doesn't do anything (cause it won't turn on).
Is there something wrong with my key (the only key I or previous owner has)? Or can I do something to "reset" it?
Previous owner said that he bought the car for his son and his son never drove it. He doesn't think "he actually ever locked it..." (RE: idiot).
So, I've got my "new" car sitting in my driveway unable to be used...Help??

Well You will need to find out if this is a factory or after market alarm. I bet it is not factory. If not then it is easily removed and problem is solved. Although you can't lock it.

It, unfortunately is NOT an after market alarm. It is the standard factory "Anti-Theft" system that came with the car.
I wish it was an after market thing, then I'd just pummel the thing with a baseball bat and be done!
I'm wondering if my only option is to tow it to a dealership and have them look at it.

No a independent repair shop may be able to tackle it. If it is a factory alarm and it is malfunctioning then it should be storing some kind of code. It is a 1994 so the repair shop will need to be the right one. When the alarm goes of is it honking the horn or does it have a separate siren that make a bunch of noise?

It's the standard honking horn lights flashing type of alarm.
Pretty darn annoying is what it is! :) WE just bought this car yesterday, so it's frustrating to not be able to drive it today.

Best advise is to tow it to a competent repair facility.

Jeff: I just heard back from the repair shop. They "think" there is something wrong with the door locks latch that is mucking up the system. They also say it's going to cost $564 to fix. I only paid $600 for the car, so that's not going to happen.
Any other suggestions? Or does a problem like this sound familiar?
