1993 Ford Ranger No Spark Sign In

i have a 93 ford ranger 2.3l high output 4 cylinder. when i recently purchased the truck 4 of the 8 plugs on the coil packs had no spark. so i had autozone test my ICM. it failed. Note: the truck still ran and i was driving it up until the time i decided to change the ICM.

i purchased a used ICM from a local salvage yard and had it tested at autozone and it passed. so i replaced the old one with this one. i tried starting and all it did was crank with no spark. then i tried to put the old one back on, now neither is allowing my coil packs to send spark . any help?

Yeah, stop using junkyard parts.
Start out with a new module and coils. If your coils draw excessive current, they will burn out the module.

PS, there is nothing high output about a 2.3 Ford engine.

Ditto. Two strikes on this is "junkyard" parts for ignition anything and having a parts outlet tell you what it good or not despite some will test certain things they are not necessarily techs at all.

It's old enough that things that have to do with how it runs you don't go used,

i had 2 people tell me that i may have broken a wire in the plastic clip that connects to the module during the process of replacing it. does this sound like that could be the problem.

If that alone was causing wiring not to make a critical connection then yes but if wiggled it probably would work if all else was right.

Notes: Ford in particular but any maker. Clips or also called a bail to hold connections are brittle quickly never mind 21 or so years old. Some you lift and pull to get apart and Ford in particular used some that said right on them "PU"-"SH" and many lifted and broke those as you were supposed to PUSH on the clip.

Depending on what and where some broken ones you can use wire ties that don't conduct electricity and some just don't matter too much but there isn't much design or a inch of anything by design done for waste.

With some things it's just it works or doesn't and others the power all wrong blows something which by nature will be the most expensive item needed to work.............
