Hey guys I was wondering if you could help me out with a problem I'm having with my 1993 Dodge Spirit. The problem is that after a cold start for about the first 2-3 mins of driving my car lightly jerks whenever i accelerate. Its as if I lose power and gain it back quickly and it keeps repeating as long as i'm pressing the gas.

You can get codes on that one by cycling the key on-off-on-off-on. Watch the check engine light and count the flashes. Usually the first thing you do when diagnosing a drive-ability problem is to see if the engine controller is storing any trouble codes. Kind of makes diagnosing a little easier...don't you think? I don't know if that link is spam. The only thing it directs you to is a picture of part of an electrical schematic. Ok I tried that, and i did not get any error codes (The engine light did not flash at all). Also sorry, the picture was of the diagnostic connector because i saw that , in some cars, to read the check engine light you have to bridge two wires in the connector.

Does the check engine light come on when you turn the ignition on with the engine off? Try this: Unplug the throttle position sensor. Then check for trouble codes using the on-off-on-off-on method. It should set a code 24. Just doing this to verify the diagnostic side of the computer is operating.
