1992
BMW
325ic
not sure of the engine size

This morning I noticed that the car was beeping, more like a bong bong sound. I think it is the sensor in the door, anyway it is getting louder and won't stop. I was wondering what I could do to stop it. Also it is raining a lot her could that be why it is making the noise? It only started today. Or perhaps it has something to do with the seat because when my friend sits on it the noise stops.

Guessing but what the heck. Is this the same sound you would hear for any other warnings this may have like leaving headlights on, key out and door open, not wearing seat belt which normally gives you a light too on most cars but should in most 92 era vehicles quit after so long if you aren't wearing it?

Try something. Fasten the passenger's seat belt without a passenger thereCrazy If that makes it quit there's the place to go looking. Seat may sense the weight of a person and that sensing device may be getting tired.

Any lights on dash along with the noise? As said - just guessing for now,

PS: True and not funny but it was mandated in model year '73 only (I think) that if a front seat anyone wasn't buckled up the car's wouldn't start! Well - didn't a person happen to stall on railroad tracks with a bag of groceries on passenger's seat and car wouldn't start and she was killed! They quit that trick real fast and don't think ever pulled that again and dealers were unplugging the sensors like mad real fast. Dumbest thing ever thought of IMO. Imagine getting in to warm up an iced up car and were going to clear off the windows you had to buckle up first then get out!
