 I have a 1991 Mazada 626 It starts up but when you release the key it shuts off.

Try to hold the key from returning all the way from the start position. You don't want to keep the starter engaged but if you can hold it in between the start & run position and the car will run with out the starter staying engaged, you have a bad ign switch.........
