As soon a colder weather sets in (less than 40 degrees), the clutch feels soft. It may, at times, not release. I usually end up checking the fliud level and topping off. Clutch action improves as the drive chain warms. The truck is an F150, 6 cylinder with 165000 miles. Tranny was pulled about 5 years ago and the trouble started then.

If having to top off hydraulic reservoir often there's a leak. Anything holding fluid could be the culprit - master cyl, slave or flex hose.

Could be some issue with hardware at the slave when trans pulled but don't think that would correct with temperature?

Thanks for the reply...I am not sure that I actually add any fluid. Usually over fill. I just can not think of any thing in the hydraulic system that would be temperature sensative. MAYBE THE RUBBER SEALS IN THE CYLINDERS?? Pulling the tranny to check the slave will be a last resort.

Don't over fill brake or clutch reservoirs. It needs that air above the bellows to return fluid. Some are tough to bleed first and a power bleeder may be required and yes some need more involved work to get at the slave cylinder.

If needed to lower level as that could be a problem alone a simple turkey baster well marked NOT FOR FOOD! works. Just as a test, take cover off and go slow so it doesn't splash or just loosen it and if issue goes away it's locking fluid and may not return well,
