1986 ford tempo will not run

my 86 Ford tempo ran fine last fall and when I wanted to start it a fw weeks ago it would turn over very well but not fire. If I put fuel in the throttle body it will run till the prime runs out. I can hear the fuel pump running

you've narrowed if down to a fuel problem, so check fuel pressure. Just because it makes noise doesn't mean its doing anything. Would be a good idea to change out the fuel filter, as its easy on this car to do.
