1985 Toyota PU over heating - Reservoir over full

Engine over heats. The reservoir is over full when checked hot or cold. Noticed coolant coming out from under radiator cap when checked when hot immediately after stopping. Radiator when checked cool has no coolant covering top coils. Have tried adding coolant but it just totally filled the reservoir and when the radiator when checked was down coolant. It takes about a quart to refill reservoir. Not sure of additional problems or when it started as my son was driving truck and he is in college and did not mention anything except to check coolant level. Truck does have a recent engine oil leak but I would think they are not related.

You need to first pressure test the cooling system to locate any leaks and repair them.
